How buyers should specify PV connectors before RFQ

PV connectors are small parts with high failure cost. Voltage rating, current rating, contact material, sealing quality, cable diameter and crimp tooling must match the cable and system architecture.

For procurement, do not treat MC4-compatible parts as fully interchangeable by name only. The RFQ should define connector type, cable size, branch configuration and whether pre-assembly or crimping tools are needed.

Selection logic
  • Confirm 1000V or 1500V rating and compatible conductor/cable outer diameter.
  • Specify connector pair, branch connector, fuse connector, diode connector or cable assembly format.
  • Check contact material, waterproof rating and crimp tool availability.
  • Avoid mixing connector systems without reviewing compatibility and warranty risk.
Buyer risk checks
  • Cross-mating can fit physically but fail sealing or heating checks over time.
  • Wrong crimp dies can create high-resistance joints even with correct cable size.
  • Branch connectors must match string current and polarity layout, not only connector shape.
  • Connector accessories should be quoted with cable size, not as generic spare parts.

Buyer FAQ

Connectors & Cable Assemblies sourcing questions

Practical checks buyers usually confirm before quoting, sampling or consolidating a shipment.

Are MC4-compatible connectors interchangeable?

Not automatically. Physical fit does not always mean the sealing, contact geometry and warranty are compatible. Connector and cable size should be checked together.

Can connectors be supplied with pre-crimped cable assemblies?

Yes, if the RFQ includes cable type, conductor size, length, polarity layout and quantity.

How do buyers request a quote for Connectors & Cable Assemblies?

Send the product list or BOM, quantities, destination country or port, required standards, and target delivery date. OmniSol reviews SKU matching, lead time, packing, and export requirements before quotation.

Can Connectors & Cable Assemblies be shipped with other solar BOS components?

Yes. OmniSol can review mixed-container feasibility for mounting, cables, connectors, protection devices, combiner boxes, distribution boards, and selected storage accessories.

When are certificates and market documents confirmed?

Document availability is checked at RFQ and order confirmation stage against the selected SKU, supplier, model, and target market requirements.
