Type B RCCB in the 16A to 100A range for detecting AC, pulsating DC, and smooth DC leakage in main distribution board positions where overcurrent protection is handled separately by downstream MCBs or MCCBs. The higher current range suits commercial and industrial distribution boards where a single Type B main RCCB protects multiple downstream circuits.
Specifying Type B at the main RCCB position covers the entire downstream circuit for all leakage types, regardless of the mix of load types on the board — simpler than specifying Type B on individual circuit breakers.
100A Type B RCBO covers large single-phase inverter outputs or grouped small-inverter circuits where aggregate current approaches 100A. The B-type detection characteristic adds protection against smooth DC residual currents — verify whether your inverter specifies Type B RCD in its installation manual before substituting a standard Type AC device.
