Universal Tile Hook System

Why Quality Matters?

Grinding tiles to fit hooks is time-consuming and risks leaks. Our high-clearance adjustable arm allows installation without cutting or grinding tiles, saving 30% labor time.

Our flagship tile roof solution featuring the OS-TH-01 Double Adjustable Hook. Compatible with Pantile, Roman, and Spanish tiles. The dual-adjustment mechanism allows for precise leveling even on uneven roof structures.

Procurement & BOM Notes

How Universal Tile Hook System is sourced

OmniSol sources Universal Tile Hook System factory-direct as part of the Roof Mounting family, quoted against your project quantity, destination port and material (Stainless Steel 304 (A2-70)). Pricing and lead time are confirmed by SKU and order size at the RFQ stage, and OmniSol can propose a current-equivalent option if the exact variant is unavailable, so the line stays on schedule.

BOM fit

Universal Tile Hook System is part of the structural BOM and is sized from the roof or ground layout and the wind and snow load. It consolidates with rails, clamps, fasteners and the rest of the project BOS into one freight-optimised container.

Certification check

Confirm the Universal Tile Hook System certificates — SUS304 (ASTM A276 / EN 10088) — material certificate on request, Passivation per ASTM A380 — corrosion resistance verified, Wind load tested per AS/NZS 1170.2 (Regions A–C) and EN 1991-1-4, 12-year product warranty; 25-year design service life — the material certificate and coating thickness for the destination before ordering. OmniSol supplies material and surface-treatment reports at RFQ.

Product Overview

The universal tile hook addresses the most common challenge in residential rooftop solar: fixing to a pitched tile roof without cutting, grinding, or permanently altering the tiles. The OS-TH-01 double adjustable hook passes through the tile overlap zone without requiring tile removal, using a dual-mechanism body to align with the underlying rafter.

The hook body is made from SUS304 stainless steel (ASTM A276 equivalent), passivated to resist corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments. The M8 stainless bolt anchors directly to the rafter through the tile batten, with an EPDM sealing washer under the hook base to prevent water ingress at the bolt point.

Height adjustment is achieved through a slotted base plate (±10mm range) and a secondary arm adjustment (0–20mm horizontal travel). This two-stage mechanism accommodates both the variable thickness of different tile profiles and the common inconsistency in rafter pitch found in older residential construction.

The hook is compatible with the standard 40×40mm and 40×35mm aluminum purlin rail used across OmniSol's roof mounting product line. A single hook pair supports a standard module load of up to 25kg within the specified wind zone configuration.

Applications

Residential pitched tile roofs — pantile, Roman tile, Spanish S-tile, flat interlocking tile

Slate and fibre cement slate roofing on domestic and heritage buildings

Social housing development bulk installations requiring consistent, fast fixing

Commercial tiled roofs on schools, offices, and institutional buildings

Heritage and conservation area buildings where non-destructive fixing is required by planning

Installation Notes

1

Locate rafter positions through the tile surface using a magnetic stud finder or by measuring from the ridge — mark all rafter lines before removing any tiles.

2

Set the lower body height adjustment first to sit flush on the tile batten, then set the arm horizontal offset to align with the rail axis; confirm alignment before tightening the M8 bolt to 25 N·m.

3

Apply a bead of low-modulus silicone (e.g. Sikaflex-11FC+ or equivalent) around the hook shank where it passes through the tile overlap; do not fill the overlap gap — capillary drainage must remain clear.

4

Reinstall the tile over the hook shank — the shank profile allows the tile to seat within 2–3mm of its original position without cutting; if more clearance is needed, use the hook arm at maximum extension.

Frequently Asked Questions

What tile types is the hook compatible with?

Curved pantile, Roman tile, Spanish S-tile, flat interlocking tile, slate, and fibre cement slate. The hook shank geometry accommodates tiles with overlap clearances of 8–22mm. For very thin or brittle tiles (e.g., heritage terracotta), request the low-profile variant.

Does installation require tile cutting or grinding?

No. The hook is specifically designed to pass through the standard tile overlap gap without cutting or grinding. The arm adjustment compensates for different tile profile heights.

What bolt is used to fix the hook to the rafter?

M8 × 60mm SUS304 hex head bolt, through the tile batten into the structural rafter. Minimum rafter depth penetration: 40mm. Torque to 25 N·m with silicone sealant on the bolt shank.

Is SUS316 available for marine environments?

Yes — SUS316 (A4-70 equivalent) is available as a variant for coastal installations within 1km of salt water. Specify at order stage.

What rail system does the hook work with?

OmniSol's standard 40×40mm or 40×35mm T-slot aluminum purlin rail. The hook head slot accepts the standard rail profile directly — no additional adapter required.
