Product Overview
Non-polarity DC MCB in 80A, 100A, and 125A ratings allows installation without fixed positive/negative terminal assignment. The 300V DC voltage rating targets battery bus protection, low-voltage DC distribution boards, and auxiliary supply circuits rather than high-voltage PV strings.
The non-polarity design reduces wiring errors in the field where installers may not consistently observe polarity conventions. This is particularly useful in battery systems where DC bus polarity can vary by design.
The EKM3-125DC 3-pole configuration is used where system architecture requires neutral conductor disconnection alongside DC positive and negative conductors. Confirm your inverter wiring diagram before specifying 3-pole DC protection — most string inverters use a floating DC circuit that only requires 2-pole isolation.
Applications
PV string and array protection
Combiner box internal protection
Inverter DC input circuits
Utility and C&I solar BOS
Frequently Asked Questions
What does non-polarity mean for a DC MCB?
A non-polarity MCB safely interrupts the circuit regardless of which terminal is positive or negative — the arc suppression mechanism works in both current directions. This eliminates the risk of reduced breaking capacity from reversed installation.
Is 300V DC rating sufficient for PV string circuits?
300V DC is below the string voltage of most grid-tied PV systems. EKM3-125DC is better suited to battery bank protection (12V, 24V, 48V, 72V systems), ESS low-voltage DC circuits, and DC auxiliary supply applications — not PV string protection.
