Product Overview

1500V rated 16-string combiner for utility-scale PV projects using 1500V DC architecture. The higher voltage rating reduces the number of strings needed for a given power output, reducing cable count and BOS cost — 16 strings at 1500V carry more power than 16 strings at 1000V.

All internal components including fuse links, isolator, SPD, and busbar clearances are specified for 1500V DC. At 1500V architecture, the 16-string combiner output current is lower than in 1000V systems for the same power — the cable and output protection can sometimes be downsized accordingly.

The 1500V 16-string model allows fewer but longer strings per combiner versus 1000V equivalents, reducing cable home-run count. Review the 1500V inverter MPPT input current specification to confirm the aggregate 16-string Isc does not exceed the MPPT input rating — oversizing the combiner relative to the MPPT input causes unused string capacity.

Applications

PV string combining

DC array protection

C&I rooftop solar

Utility-scale field combiner circuits

Frequently Asked Questions

How does 1500V system voltage affect combiner box sizing versus 1000V?

At 1500V, each string carries the same current but at a higher voltage, delivering more power per string. For the same total power, fewer strings are needed — but all components must be 1500V rated. Cable cross-section for the same current stays the same; combiner output current per box decreases for the same power.

What is the standard SPD configuration in the 1500V combiner?

DC SPDs inside 1500V combiner boxes must be rated for 1500V DC. Confirm SPD configuration (Type 1, Type 2, or combined) and discharge current rating at RFQ — project specifications often define the minimum SPD requirement.
