Product Overview
Polarity-sensitive DC MCB with 6kA breaking capacity and 1P/2P/4P options for PV string and combiner circuits rated up to 1000V DC. The polarity-sensitive design requires correct positive/negative terminal assignment — reversed installation reduces arc extinction performance.
Six to 63A current range covers individual string protection, combiner branch circuits, and inverter auxiliary DC protection. For non-polarity-sensitive applications in the same current range, see ETM1-63DC.
At 63A, the EKM1-63DC is typically used on combiner box main outputs or inverter string inputs in medium commercial arrays. The DC-specific arc extinguisher design prevents contact welding under the sustained fault current that characterises PV DC circuits, where current continues to flow as long as the panels are illuminated.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does polarity-sensitive mean for this DC circuit breaker?
A polarity-sensitive MCB requires the positive terminal connected to the marked terminal. Reversed installation reduces breaking capacity because the arc suppression design depends on the current direction. Always follow the wiring diagram — the positive terminal is marked on the device.
Is 6kA breaking capacity sufficient for PV string circuits?
For residential and small commercial strings, 6kA is generally adequate. For large combiner outputs or strings close to a large inverter, calculate the prospective fault current at the installation point and verify it is below 6kA before specifying this device.
