Product Overview
Two-string rapid shutdown device for rooftop sections where two adjacent strings can share one shutdown unit. Combining two strings in one device reduces wiring runs and enclosure count compared to two separate single-string units while maintaining independent string-level shutdown capability.
Each string connects to its own input terminals — the device handles both strings simultaneously on shutdown signal. IP65 rating allows direct outdoor mounting without additional weatherproof enclosure.
Two-way fuse sets allow independent bus bar protection of two parallel combiner outputs. In systems with battery storage where energy can flow in both directions, confirm that the fuse class and breaking capacity cover the maximum reverse-direction current from the inverter or charger during storage charging cycles.
Applications
PV string and array protection
Combiner box internal protection
Inverter DC input circuits
Utility and C&I solar BOS
Frequently Asked Questions
Can two strings with different Isc values share one EKFS-50-2?
Yes. Each string input is independent — the device handles both regardless of slight current differences. The rated current per string input must not be exceeded. Share both string Isc values at RFQ and we confirm the unit is appropriately rated.
Is rapid shutdown required for ground-mount systems?
NEC rapid shutdown requirements apply to building-integrated and rooftop PV systems. Ground-mount systems not on or attached to a building are typically exempt. Confirm with the local authority having jurisdiction for your specific installation.
