Direct answer
1500V DC solar cable is selected for projects using higher-voltage string architecture. The cable, connector, SPD, fuse and combiner box should all be checked against the same voltage class.
A 1500V project should not mix cable and protection assumptions from 1000V designs. We review the full DC BOS package when the RFQ includes multiple categories.
Core procurement parameters

FAQ
Can 1000V cable be used in a 1500V project?
The cable and all connected DC devices should match the project voltage requirement. We do not recommend mixing voltage assumptions.
Is 1500V cable only for utility projects?
It is most common in utility and larger C&I projects, but the final decision follows inverter voltage and local electrical rules.
