Product Overview

Nine current ratings from 63A to 250A in a 1500V DC MCCB for utility and C&I combiner outputs and inverter DC inputs. The 1500V rating is specifically required when string voltage exceeds 1000V — standard 1000V MCCBs are not voltage-rated for 1500V DC circuits.

Combiner output current equals the sum of all string currents flowing through the output bus. Share string count, Isc per string, and system voltage at RFQ and we confirm the correct current rating from the nine available variants.

The 250A frame is a standard main disconnector size for commercial rooftop arrays in the 50–150kW range, where combined string currents exceed MCB ratings. The adjustable overload trip allows field-setting of the tripping threshold to match the actual array output, reducing nuisance trips during irradiance transients.

Applications

PV string and array protection

Combiner box internal protection

Inverter DC input circuits

Frequently Asked Questions

Why cannot a standard 1000V DC MCCB be used in a 1500V system?

A DC circuit breaker must safely interrupt the full system voltage. In a 1500V DC PV string, open-circuit voltage can reach 1500V — a 1000V-rated MCCB cannot safely extinguish the arc at this voltage. Using an undersized voltage-rated device is a code violation and a safety hazard.

What current rating do I need for my combiner output?

Sum the Isc values of all strings connected to the combiner output. Add a 25% margin and select the next higher standard current rating. For a 16-string combiner at 12A Isc per string: 16×12 = 192A × 1.25 = 240A → select 250A variant.
