UAE Market — Solar BOS / PV Cables
PV Cable Supplier
for the UAE
H1Z2Z2-K single-core DC solar cable — 4mm² to 16mm², 1000V and 1500V DC, IEC 62930 / EN 50618 certified and 90°C rated for UAE summer temperatures. Red and black rolls, custom drum lengths. Mixed container to Jebel Ali with full BOS scope.
H1Z2Z2-K PV Cable for UAE Solar Projects
The UAE's solar market — spanning residential rooftops in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, commercial installations across industrial zones, and utility-scale plants in the desert — has one common PV cable requirement: H1Z2Z2-K single-core DC solar cable conforming to IEC 62930 or EN 50618. This standard specifically addresses the high-UV, high-temperature operating conditions that are extreme in the Gulf region.
OmniSol supplies H1Z2Z2-K from verified Chinese manufacturers with IEC 62930 type approval and TÜV third-party test reports. Standard conductor sizes — 4mm², 6mm², 10mm², and 16mm² — are available in both 1000V DC and 1500V DC voltage ratings, in red (positive) and black (negative) rolls. Custom drum lengths are available for large projects to minimise waste.
PV cable ships consolidated with mounting hardware, MC4 connectors, DC protection, and combiner boxes in a single 20ft or 40ft HQ container to Jebel Ali. Under the UAE-China CEPA in force since January 2023, PV cable classified under HS 8544.42 or HS 8544.49 qualifies for 0% import duty, giving Chinese-manufactured IEC-certified cable a significant landed-cost advantage over European alternatives.
H1Z2Z2-K Specifications — UAE Sizes

| 16mm² | 1000V DC, 1500V DC | 96A | ~68A | Array home-run cables, combiner box output |
Derating factor ~0.71 at 50°C ambient. Exact derating depends on installation method per IEC 60364-5-52 Table B.52.14. Use voltage drop calculator to confirm sizing.
UAE-Specific Cable Procurement Considerations
Temperature derating is mandatory
IEC 60364-5-52 current tables assume 30°C ambient. At 50°C UAE outdoor ambient, a derating factor of ~0.71 applies. For cable installed in conduit in direct sun (surface temperature >70°C), further derating is required. Always specify installation method on your RFQ so OmniSol can flag if the selected cross-section is sufficient.
UV resistance — H1Z2Z2-K sheath
UAE irradiance of ~2,200 kWh/m²/year is among the highest globally. H1Z2Z2-K's cross-linked polyolefin outer sheath provides IEC 62930 UV Class A resistance — tested for 30-year field life in high-UV environments. Standard PVC-sheathed cable is not suitable for UAE outdoor solar installations without additional conduit protection.
1500V DC: full stack alignment required
If the project uses a 1500V DC inverter, every component in the DC string path — cable, connectors, string fuses, SPD, combiner box, and MCCB — must be 1500V rated. OmniSol supplies a complete 1500V BOS stack and can confirm cross-component compatibility at the quoting stage to avoid site rejection of mixed-voltage equipment.
CEPA 0% duty on HS 8544.42
Under the UAE-China CEPA (in force January 2023), PV cable classified under HS 8544.42 (insulated electric conductors, with connectors, for a voltage ≤1,000V) qualifies for 0% import duty. 1500V DC cable typically classifies under HS 8544.49. Certificate of origin from China is required. OmniSol provides CO documentation as standard for UAE shipments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which PV cable standard is required for UAE solar projects?
UAE projects follow IEC 62930 (international) and EN 50618 (European reference), both of which define H1Z2Z2-K as the standard single-core DC solar cable. H1Z2Z2-K uses cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation and a cross-linked polyolefin outer sheath, rated 90°C conductor temperature and UV resistant — essential in the UAE's high solar irradiance environment (GHI ~2,200 kWh/m²/year). DEWA and ADDC do not prohibit import of IEC-certified Chinese-manufactured cable.
What conductor cross-sections are available for UAE string runs?
OmniSol supplies H1Z2Z2-K PV cable in 4mm², 6mm², 10mm², and 16mm² conductor cross-sections, in both 1000V DC and 1500V DC ratings. For UAE rooftop and ground-mount string runs typically up to 50–80m per string, 4mm² or 6mm² is standard at 1000V. For 1500V utility-scale systems with longer string runs, 6mm² or 10mm² is recommended to keep voltage drop below 1%. Use our voltage drop calculator to confirm sizing.
How does UAE ambient temperature affect PV cable current-carrying capacity?
IEC 60364-5-52 base current ratings assume 30°C ambient. UAE summer temperatures of 48–50°C outdoors require a derating factor of approximately 0.71–0.75 applied to the rated current. For buried or conduit-run cable, soil temperature derating applies additionally. H1Z2Z2-K's 90°C conductor temperature rating provides headroom for UAE conditions without oversizing; however, the installed current must be verified after applying the temperature correction factor for the specific installation method and UAE climate zone.
Can I ship PV cable in the same container as mounting hardware and protection devices?
Yes. PV cable (non-hazardous, no UN number required) ships unrestricted alongside solar mounting hardware, MC4 connectors, DC MCBs, SPDs, and combiner boxes in the same 20ft or 40ft HQ container. OmniSol's standard UAE mixed-BOS container service consolidates all BOS categories. Cable drums are floor-loaded or palletised around mounting hardware. Custom cable lengths are cut and coiled on site before export to match project BOM.
What documentation does OmniSol provide for UAE PV cable import?
OmniSol provides: IEC 62930 / EN 50618 test report (third-party lab), TÜV Rheinland or equivalent certification letter, commercial invoice with HS code 8544.42 (UAE customs), packing list, certificate of origin (China, for CEPA 0% duty), and material safety data sheet. At buyer request, we provide drum-by-drum batch test reports and conductor resistance test records for large utility orders.
